Baseball Recap: North Warren Central Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

North Warren Central had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Lake Placid on Wednesday. The Cougars were the clear victors by a 15-8 margin over the Bombers. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Wyatt Jennings made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up seven earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. North Warren Central is undefeated when Jennings posts two or more runs, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, CJ Barlow was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Maceo Matson was another key player, going 3-for-6 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The victory (which was North Warren Central's sixth in a row) raised their record to 13-5-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Placid, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-5.

Looking ahead, North Warren Central will challenge Parishville-Hopkinton at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Cougars surely won't give up without a fight. Lake Placid does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
