Basketball Recap: Triplains/Brewster Takes a Loss

Triplains/Brewster was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 78-23 loss at the hands of the Dighton Hornets. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Hornets are ranked 115th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Dighton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Carlie Speer, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards. Those 14 points gave Speer a new career-high. Lani Speer was another key player, going 10-for-17 on her way to 21 points and eight rebounds.

Triplains/Brewster's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Dighton, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season.

Triplains/Brewster didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 64-19 loss against Wheatland-Grinnell on the 21st. As for Dighton, they have also already played their next contest, a 48-42 defeat against Rawlins County on the 21st.
