Imperial and Holtville are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Imperial Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Holtville Vikings at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Holtville took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Imperial, who comes in off a win.

On Tuesday, Imperial needed a bit of extra time to put away Brawley. They had just enough and edged out the Wildcats 3-2. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Bruno Hernandez looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jacob Gastelum, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one double. That double was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Holtville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calexico.

Holtville's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Imperial, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Imperial came out on top in a nail-biter against Holtville in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Imperial since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
