Softball Recap: Middlesboro Takes a Loss

Middlesboro blew Barbourville out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Barbourville got their revenge. Middlesboro fell just short of Barbourville by a score of 9-7. The Yellowjackets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Middlesboro and nudges their season record down to 1-3. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 4-1 Pineville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 73.3% over those games). As for Barbourville, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middlesboro will head out to square off against Harlan at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Middlesboro will need to watch out since Harlan has now posted at least ten runs in their last three matches. As for Barbourville, they will head out on the road to challenge Pineville at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Pineville will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Barbourville surely won't give up without a fight.
