Softball Recap: Four Straight Home Wins for Line Mountain

Line Mountain came out on top against Juniata on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run sixth inning. The Eagles blew past the Indians 11-1. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 5-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Madylinn Grindstaff made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Line Mountain let Addy Nelson and Natalie Witmer run wild. Nelson got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base, while Witmer went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Nelson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paytan Snyder, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Line Mountain pushed their record up to 9-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Juniata, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
