Basketball Game Preview: Yantis Owls vs. Cooper Bulldogs

The Yantis Owls will head out on the road to square off against the Cooper Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Friday, Yantis ended up a good deal behind Boles and lost 46-29. While losing is never fun, the Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1464th, while the Hornets are ranked 698th).

North Hopkins typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Cooper proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 58-48 win over the Panthers. The victory was familiar territory for the Bulldogs who have now won three matchups in a row.

Cooper has also been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Yantis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Yantis took a serious blow against Cooper when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 66-9. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Yantis was down 30-2.
