Softball Preview: Zwolle Hawks vs. Loyola College Prep Flyers
The Zwolle Hawks will take on the Loyola College Prep Flyers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with three losses in a row, Zwolle turned things around against East Beauregard on Friday. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 13-2 victory. Considering the Hawks have won nine matches by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Loyola College Prep never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They came out on top against Booker T. Washington-Shreveport by a score of 15-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The win continues a trend for the Flyers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.
Larkin Krieg made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Krieg was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Loyola College Prep got a massive performance out of Presley Walker, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Walker has posted over her last nine games. Another player making a difference was Jillian Drouillard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Zwolle's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Loyola College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.
