Softball Game Preview: Connell Eagles vs. College Place Hawks

Connell is 0-10 against College Place since May of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. Connell will venture away from home to square off against College Place at 3:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Connell and Wahluke meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Saturday. Connell blew past Wahluke 23-1. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, College Place put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 16-15 W against Naches Valley.

Charley Amick and Adrienne Berube did most of the damage at the plate: Amick got on base in five of her six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and four RBI, while Berube went 3-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Amick is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Graycelyn Tonn, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: College Place kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.

Connell's record is now 2-0. As for College Place, their record is now 4-0.

Connell suffered a grim 16-6 defeat to College Place in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Connell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
