Recap: Tornillo Coyotes vs. Horizon Scorpions
The Tornillo Coyotes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They fell to Horizon 26-21. Tornillo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Horizon apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Horizon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Johanna Contrares out in front who scored 8 points along with 4 steals. Contrares is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last three games she's played. Itzel Dean was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Tornillo's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Horizon, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 3-5 record this season.
Tornillo will head out on the road to face off against Fort Hancock at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fort Hancock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Tuesday. As for Horizon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Burges at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
