Softball Recap: Albert Gallatin Comes Up Short

Albert Gallatin extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They came up short against the Connellsville Falcons, falling 11-4. The Colonials were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in May of 2022.

As for Connellsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. Considering they have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

For Connellsville's part, Mackenzie Victor spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. Victor has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Molly Greenawalt and Cali Leichliter did most of the damage at the plate: Greenawalt went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles, while Leichliter went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Elizabeth Painter, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

While Albert Gallatin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
