Softball Recap: Hollister Haybalers vs. Salinas Cowboys
Hollister had taken Salinas down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Haybalers fell 7-2 to the Cowboys. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cowboys this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 back in April.
Eliana Hatchett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Hollister saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aleah Ruiz, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Maddy Rodriguez was another, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Hollister's loss dropped their record down to 13-10. As for Salinas, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-6.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Hollister will face off against rival Monterey at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Haybalers 3.7, the Dores 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Salinas is set to take on their familiar foe North Salinas at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
