Softball Recap: Concordia Lutheran Has No Trouble Against the Woodlands Christian Academy

Concordia Lutheran barely beat The Woodlands Christian Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Crusaders were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over the Warriors on Friday. That's two games straight that the Crusaders have won by exactly ten runs.

Emily Rivera made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Concordia Lutheran got a massive performance out of Faith Keiper, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Kaitlyn Moore also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Concordia Lutheran's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-4-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for The Woodlands Christian Academy, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5-1.

Coming up, Concordia Lutheran will challenge St. Agnes Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Crusaders surely won't give up without a fight. As for The Woodlands Christian Academy, they will take on Cypress Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Woodlands Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Cypress Christian has averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
