South Anchorage waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They came out on top against the West Anchorage Eagles by a score of 19-6. This was a revenge game for the Wolverines: when they faced off against the Eagles back in August, they had to take a 14-6 loss.

South Anchorage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brianna Bailey led the charge by rushing for 86 yards on only five carries, while also catching one TD. That's the most rushing yards Bailey has posted since back in August of 2024. Addysen Gasser also helped out with an impressive 102 receiving yards.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something South Anchorage proved: they limited West Anchorage to a paltry 3.1 yards per carry. While two picked up at least seven total tackles, Bailey stood above the rest. She rushed for 86 yards on only five carries, and also caught one touchdown. South Anchorage's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.15 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 5.6 on average over their last five games.

South Anchorage's defense didn't let Ariel Misa., get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for four sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Elliana Smith. She is on a roll when it comes to sacks, as she's now posted at least one in each of the last four games she's played.

West Anchorage's loss came despite strong showings from Hiilaniwai Mataafa and Misa. Mataafa picked up 107 receiving yards and one score, while Misa threw for 183 yards and one TD.

South Anchorage's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for West Anchorage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.

South Anchorage didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 33-0 victory against Eagle River on the 11th. As for West Anchorage, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 33-0 win against Bettye Davis East Anchorage on the 13th.
