Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Mustangs vs. Balboa Buccaneers

Lincoln is 9-1 against Balboa since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Buccaneers at 3:30 p.m. Lincoln will be strutting in after a win while Balboa will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Lincoln turned things around against Summit Shasta on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Black Bears a 10-0 shutout. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Nicholas Chiu was incredible, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Jerry Hou was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Balboa was not able to break out of their rough patch two weeks ago as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Washington, falling 10-0.

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 5-10. As for Balboa, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.

Everything went Lincoln's way against Balboa in their previous meeting back in March, as Lincoln made off with a 16-4 win. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Buccaneers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
