Desert View is 1-9 against Nogales since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Jaguars will square off against the Apaches at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Desert View will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Wednesday, then bounced right back against Flowing Wells on Thursday. The Jaguars' pitchers stepped up to hand the Caballeros a 10-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Caballeros: they've now won four in a row.

Desert View let Jorge Acu?a and Orlando Pinedo run wild. Acu?a went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Pinedo got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave Pinedo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mark Hollonbeck, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Desert View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Nogales made easy work of Buena on Thursday and carried off a 13-2 victory.
Max Manson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Nogales got a big performance out of Nico Bernal, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Gomez, who went 4-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Desert View's record now sits at 10-12. As for Nogales, their record is now 11-5.
Desert View's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Jaguars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.3 stolen bases per game.
