Volleyball Game Preview: South El Monte Eagles vs. Rosemead Panthers

South El Monte hasn't had much luck against Rosemead recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

South El Monte needed a changed in momentum after dropping seven straight games and they got it from Lexis Jacobo. The Eagles sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over El Monte on Wednesday thanks in part to Jacobo, who had 39 digs. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had 13 or more in each of the last four games he's played.

South El Monte wouldn't go down easily and took El Monte into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21, 25-27, 22-25, 15-11.

Meanwhile, Rosemead waltzed into their game on Wednesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Vikings.

The final score came out to 25-18, 25-5, 25-5.

South El Monte's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 7-12. As for Rosemead, they pushed their record up to 9-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
