Basketball Recap: Parkland Piles Up the Points Against Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy

While Parkland didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They simply couldn't be stopped on Saturday as they easily beat the Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy Warriors 59-16. The Matadors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 38 points or more this season.

Leading Parkland to victory were Ellana Stroude and Ericka Dixon. Stroude dropped a double-double with ten points and 11 boards, while Dixon posted ten points and four steals. Thanks to that strong game, Dixon now owns an excellent 46.5% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Amelia Martinez, who earned seven points and four steals.

Parkland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Parkland's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkland will welcome Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Young Women's STEAM Research & Preparatory Academy, they will host Clint at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
