The Munster Mustangs will square off against the Illiana Christian Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Munster is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Munster barely beat Kankakee Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs' pitcher stepped up to hand the Kougars a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Kougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Owen Roberts tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Zach Wright was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Luke Zelaya, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI.
Illiana Christian came out on top against Andrean on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Vikings narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Fighting 59ers 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Vikings have posted since April 26th.
Illiana Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Scott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Illiana Christian is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Munster, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Munster has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. However, it's not like Illiana Christian struggles in that department as they've averaged .467. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Munster couldn't quite finish off Illiana Christian when the teams last played back in May of 2023 and fell 6-4. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
