Baseball Game Preview: Fuquay - Varina Bengals vs. Garner Trojans

After both having extra time off, the Fuquay - Varina Bengals and the Garner Trojans will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fuquay - Varina's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Garner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Fuquay - Varina was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Southeast Raleigh last Friday. The Bengals' pitchers stepped up to hand the Bulldogs a 15-0 shutout. The Bengals haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Garner, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Clayton 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Trojans have posted against the Comets since April 19, 2022.

Garner pushed their record up to 7-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Fuquay - Varina, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
