2A Great Northern recap September 17, 2013
Bruno Foust and Ryan Adams provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lewiston. The connection was good for 73 yards, the longest such play in 2A Great Northern this season.
Cheney was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in the league. The Blackhawks defeated Omak 42-6 earlier in the week.
David Ungerer was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 55 yards on 15 carries as Pullman fell to Freeman. Sidney Ankrah also contributed to the rushing game with 10 yards on the ground.
Foust put up the best numbers through the air as Clarkston fell to the Bengals. He finished with 10 completions for 179 yards. Foust's favorite target this week was Trevor Sperry, who caught 4 passes for 84 yards.
Ungerer was the best receiver in 2A Great Northern this week as the Greyhounds lost to the Scotties. Ungerer tallied 5 receptions for 135 yards. Stephen Mealey helped Pullman's passing attack out by catching 7 balls for 56 yards.
The Bantams' Foust and Sperry have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-10 quarterback Foust has thrown for 410 yards this season, while Sperry has 10 catches for 191 yards. Pullman's Ungerer leads the league in rushing yards with 298.
Colville moved up to 149 from 198 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Indians were able to make move up by besting Jenkins 42-0.
