Basketball Preview: Unioto Shermans vs. Zane Trace Pioneers

Unioto has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Zane Trace Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Unioto has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,310 points over their last 19 matchups.

Last Tuesday, Unioto was able to grind out a solid win over the Warriors, taking the game 62-49.

It was another big night for Milee Smith, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaris Betts, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Zane Trace lost to the Redstreaks at home by a decisive 41-25 margin on Tuesday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Zane Trace in their matchups with the Redstreaks: they've now lost five in a row.

Unioto pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.1 points per game. As for Zane Trace, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Everything came up roses for Unioto against the Pioneers in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 78-11 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Unioto since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
