Softball Recap: New Braunfels Extends Winning Streak to Five

New Braunfels had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Tivy Antlers. The Unicorns might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Cecilia De Los Santos made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. De Los Santos was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Mikayla Wilson was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. She has been hot recently, having posted four or more hits the last three times she's played. Kaiden Esparza was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

New Braunfels was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tivy only posted a batting average of .269.

New Braunfels pushed their record up to 18-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Tivy, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-10 record.

Looking ahead, New Braunfels will venture away from home to take on Veterans Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Unicorns 3.5, the Patriots 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Tivy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Wagner at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Antlers are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on an 11-game losing streak.
