Baseball Game Preview: Carnegie Wildcats vs. Lookeba-Sickles Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Carnegie Wildcats take on Lookeba-Sickles Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Carnegie is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.

While Carnegie didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Rock Creek 12-10. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since April 11, 2024.

Stetson West was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Abel Resendez, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

West wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Carnegie kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lookeba-Sickles fell victim to Union City and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.

The win made it two in a row for Carnegie and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Lookeba-Sickles, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
