Softball Recap: Panguitch Bobcats vs. Piute Thunderbirds
Panguitch blew Piute out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Piute got their revenge. Panguitch fell just short of Piute by a score of 18-16. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (15), the Bobcats still had to take the loss.
Panguitch got a massive performance out of Maggie Nappier, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Jaylee Litteral, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Even though they lost, Panguitch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .381 or higher in six consecutive games dating back to last season.
Panguitch's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Piute, they pushed their record up to 3-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home.
Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Panguitch Bobcats take on Water Canyon Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Water Canyon has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 20 runs per game on average), something Panguitch will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Piute, they will take on North Sevier at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
