Soccer Game Preview: Shelby vs. Kings Mountain

The Shelby Golden Lions will challenge the Kings Mountain Mountaineers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shelby will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.

Shelby's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Burns with a sharp 4-0 victory. Considering Shelby have won six contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

They hit Burns with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alyvia Berkowitz (2), Sadie Oliver, and Stella Martin.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Kings Mountain's offense. They came up short against South Point two weeks ago, falling 5-0. Kings Mountain have struggled against South Point recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost meeting.

Shelby's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 50 goals over those ten matches. As for Kings Mountain, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-3.

Shelby was able to grind out a solid win over Kings Mountain in their previous meeting back in February, winning 2-0. Do the Golden Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountaineers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
