Wesley Hogue was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Colby Dooley was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Sebastopol always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, while Simmons put up some runs on Monday, the same can't be said for Gentry. The Blue Devils were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Rams. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by ten runs or more this season.
Nathaniel Singleton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Simmons is 4-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-7 otherwise. Singleton was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Simmons let Daylan Richardson and Tyrone Buchanan run wild. Richardson went 1-for-2 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Buchanan got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs. Buchanan has become a key player for Simmons: the team is 5-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lawrence Woods, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
The win made it two in a row for Simmons and bumps their season record up to 7-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Sebastopol, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Simmons' pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Sebastopol hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .321.
