Baseball Game Preview: Gustine Reds vs. Waterford Wildcats

For the second straight game, Gustine will face off against Waterford. The Reds will challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gustine has five straight victories, Waterford has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Gustine beat Waterford 8-4.

For Waterford's part, Xavier Mata was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Mata is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Lincoln Wagner was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Gustine's win bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Waterford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8.
