Preview: Rockford East E-Rabs vs. Belvidere Bucs
Rockford East is 9-1 against Belvidere since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Rockford East E-Rabs will be staying on the road to face off against the Belvidere Bucs at 7:15 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Rockford East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
Last Monday, Rockford East ended up a good deal behind Metea Valley and lost 70-53. While losing is never fun, Rockford East can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 462nd, while Metea Valley is ranked 106th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Tarion Mcfadden-leach, who scored 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juel Campos-Watkins, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Belvidere's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They took a hard 71-52 fall against Galena.
Rockford East has been struggling recently, as they've lost 14 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season. As for Belvidere, they bumped their record down to 2-16 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home.
Rockford East was able to grind out a solid victory over Belvidere when the teams last played back in November of 2023, winning 46-39. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rockford East since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
