Volleyball Recap: Cherokee Falls to River Ridge in First Game of Season

Cherokee unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell 3-1 to the River Ridge Knights on Tuesday. The Warriors were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in August of 2024.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: River Ridge scored at least 17 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 25-17.

When it comes to explaining why Cherokee lost, don't look at Haley Mendoza. Despite the final result, she had 25 digs and 11 kills. Mendoza has been hot, having posted 15 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Cherokee has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Cartersville on the 8th. As for River Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 win against South Forsyth on the 8th.
