Baseball Game Preview: Floyd Central Jaguars vs. Hazard Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs

Floyd Central hasn't had much luck against Hazard recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Jaguars will head out to square off against the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m.

It was a proper cat-fight when Floyd Central duked it out with Paintsville on Monday. The Jaguars lost 9-1 to the Tigers. The Jaguars' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Floyd Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kolten Crum, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Hazard came out on top against Wolfe County on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run sixth inning. The Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs walked away with a 6-2 win over the Wolves. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs.

Gaige Logan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Clint Davidson, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Trace Kincaid was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Hazard pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Floyd Central, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.

Floyd Central might still be hurting after the 8-1 defeat they got from Hazard in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Jaguars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
