Basketball Game Preview: DeSoto County Bulldogs vs. Sebring Blue Streaks

DeSoto County has gone 9-1 against Sebring recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The DeSoto County Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Sebring Blue Streaks at 7:00 p.m.

DeSoto County is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 9, 2024 on Thursday. They were dealt a 60-32 loss at the hands of Booker. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-12.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Cherish Wiggins, who posted 13 points and eight rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Yahri Tyler, who had seven points in addition to eight rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sebring). They managed a 58-53 win over Victory Christian Academy on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Blue Streaks.

Sebring found their leader in sophomore Molly Jane Zwayer, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 boards. Adriana Maldonado was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds.

Sebring's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.3 points per game. As for DeSoto County, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.

DeSoto County suffered a grim 65-39 defeat to Sebring in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can DeSoto County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
