Baseball Recap: North East Find Success

While North East didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They came out on top against the Union City Bears by a score of 4-1 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Grape Pickers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won three in a row.

Jerek Turlij made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. Turlij was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Brown, who scored two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He also got a hit, marking his first of the season.

North East's record is now 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North East will face off against Erie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Union City, they will square off against Cambridge Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
