Basketball Recap: Summit Academy's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Summit Academy was riding high fresh off their 78-41 takedown of Clinton School last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Summit Academy Eagles fell 75-68 to the Eagle Academy III Eagles on Sunday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Summit Academy came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 164th, while Eagle Academy III is ranked 427th).

Despite the loss, Summit Academy still got an impressive performance from Justin Rodriguez, who posted 35 points and four steals. The contest was Rodriguez's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ian Jones, who scored six points in addition to 13 rebounds and six blocks.

Summit Academy's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5. As for Eagle Academy III, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Summit Academy will venture away from home to take on McKinney School of Art at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eagle Academy III, they will host Architecture, Engineering and Construction at 6:00 p.m. on January 28th.
