Baseball Preview: Thornwood Thunderbirds vs. Bremen Braves

The Thornwood Thunderbirds will face off against the Bremen Braves at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Thornwood came out on top against Kankakee on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fourth inning. The Thunderbirds walked away with a 9-6 win over the Kays.

Emmanuel Pozo was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derrion Howard, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Thornwood is undefeated when Howard posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Amira Hondras was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Bremen got a massive performance out of Ashton Cardinal, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was RJ Harris, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Thornwood's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Bremen, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
