Baseball Recap: Central Gets the Win

Central won the last time they faced Penquis Valley and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Red Devils were the clear victors by an 18-6 margin over the Patriots. The Red Devils not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 19, 2024 (when they won 24-5).

Alex Kennedy made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kennedy was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Liam Kimball, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Pollock, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Penquis Valley only posted an OBP of .310.

Central's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Penquis Valley, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Central didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-0 loss against Orono on the 2nd. As for Penquis Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 30-8 defeat against Dexter on the 5th.
