Softball Recap: Virginia City Drops Season-High Score on Coleville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Virginia City). They were the clear victors by a 22-14 margin over the Coleville Wolves on Saturday. The Muckers not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 1st.

Virginia City got a massive performance out of Grace Wackerly, who went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Wackerly has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nanna Lopez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances.

Wackerly wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Virginia City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Virginia City's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-4-1. As for Coleville, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Virginia City beat Coleville by a score of 22-10 later that day.
