Basketball Recap: Ossining Pride vs. White Plains Tigers
The Ossining Pride struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the White Plains Tigers had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Ossining took a 46-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Ossining has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Ossining's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zoey Jowers, who scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Schnecker, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Ossining struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
White Plains' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ineivi Plata, who scored 12 points along with seven steals and six assists. Plata is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 12 games she's played. Sequoia Layne was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Ossining's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for White Plains, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ossining will take on the Foxes at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for White Plains, they will be playing at home against the Quakers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
