Baseball Recap: Aldine Triumphs

Aldine lost to Sterling back in February of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Mustangs walked away with a 5-2 win over the Rangers.

Aldine got a great performance from Xavier Chavarria as he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. Chavarria has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jansyel Barbosa, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rodrigo Teran, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI.

The victory got Aldine back to even at 2-2-1. As for Sterling, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Coincidentally, Aldine and Sterling will both be playing Manvel the next time they take the field. The Rangers will head out to face the Mavericks at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Mustangs will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
