Softball Game Preview: Montini Catholic Broncos vs. Fenwick Friars

The Montini Catholic Broncos will square off against the Fenwick Friars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Montini Catholic proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by nine) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Resurrection a 1-0 shutout. While the Broncos didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-22), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meanwhile, Fenwick fell victim to Benet Academy and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Redwings by a score of 2-0. The Friars have struggled against the Redwings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Leah Lowery spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks.

Fenwick's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Montini Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
