Basketball Game Preview: Machias Bulldogs vs. Calais Blue Devils

Machias hasn't had much luck against Calais recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Machias Bulldogs will challenge the Calais Blue Devils at 5:30 p.m. Machias will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Saturday, Machias got the win against Schenck by a conclusive 53-28. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 23 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Calais beat Orono 48-37 on Saturday. Given the Blue Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Riots are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Calais has also been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Machias, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.

Machias lost to Calais on the road by a decisive 43-28 margin in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Machias avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
