Basketball Recap: Cyprus Takes a Loss

Cyprus was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a blow against the Syracuse Titans, falling 76-35. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-17.

Leading Syracuse to victory were Kyleigh Nielson and Maylee Anderson. Nielson went 6 of 7 from beyond the arc en route to 27 points and six assists, while Anderson went 7 of 11 on her way to 17 points along with five assists and four steals. Those 27 points gave Nielson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Sorenson, who made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points.

Cyprus' defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Syracuse, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-2.

Cyprus wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-37 loss against West Jordan on the 10th. As for Syracuse, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 48-24 victory against Layton on the 10th.
