Baseball Game Preview: Bellefontaine Chieftains vs. Tecumseh Arrows

The Bellefontaine Chieftains are taking a road trip to challenge the Tecumseh Arrows at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Tecumseh took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Bellefontaine, who comes in off a win.

Bellefontaine is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Urbana by a score of 12-8 on Monday. The Chieftains haven't had any issues with the Hillclimbers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Spencer Stolly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Bellefontaine is 2-1 when Stolly allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise. Stolly was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season.

In other batting news, Sutton Daring and Patrick Stolly did most of the damage at the plate: Daring got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Patrick went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Daring a new career-high. Cayleb Overmann was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Tecumseh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jonathan Alder.

Tecumseh's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Bellefontaine, their record is now 4-8.

Bellefontaine suffered a grim 8-1 defeat to Tecumseh in their previous matchup on April 7th. Can the Chieftains avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
