Softball Recap: Clintondale Comes Up Short

Clintondale extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-5. They came up short against the Fitzgerald Spartans, falling 16-1. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Dragons couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Fitzgerald, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-5. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

For Fitzgerald's part, Lydia Yokel made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Yokel has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Fitzgerald got a massive performance out of Aniyah Lockett, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That double was Lockett's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hailey Dalkert, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Looking ahead, Clintondale will be playing in front of their home fans against Roseville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fitzgerald, they are taking a road trip to face off against Eastpointe at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
