There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. Among the action were the efforts of Cardinal Gibbons's senior Nick Frey, an offensive menace who scored five total TDs.
Can't Touch This
Even though South View was bested by Terry Sanford 49 - 41 last week, South View's junior Matthew Pemberton played one heck of a game. He earned four touchdowns and 226 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Pemberton as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
South Granville gave both Bunn and its quarterback (sacked five times) a rough time last week. South Granville finished its game with a 28 - 17 win. Senior Austin Ferguson deserves a lot of the credit as he rushed for 136 yards and two touchdowns. With nine consecutive wins, South Granville boasts the longest winning streak of any team in the rankings.
Next Week's Big Game
The big showdown in the power rankings this week is between Southern Nash (6th in the power rankings) and Rocky Mount (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. With each team boasting a good deal of offensive firepower (Southern Nash has six high-flying games in a row, Rocky Mount four), it will be interesting to see who can run the score up higher.
