Softball Recap: Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Now 9-3 over Last 12 Games

With a playoff win on the line, Indianapolis Bishop Chatard rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Purdue Polytechnic Techies as they made off with a 17-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Taylar Cody made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since May 3rd.

In other pitching news, Kinsey Reed looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Anni Felts, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Anna Caskey was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Purdue Polytechnic, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-1 defeat against Cathedral on the 28th. Purdue Polytechnic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
