Recap: Howard Lions vs. Atholton Raiders
Even though the Howard Lions have not done well against the Atholton Raiders recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Howard managed a 61-56 victory over Atholton. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Raiders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Camden Thibeault, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Amir Shaheed, who scored 18 points along with four steals.
Howard has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Atholton, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6.
Howard will face off against Centennial at TBD on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Maryland (Howard is ranked 106th, while Centennial is ranked 108th). As for Atholton, they will head out on the road to square off against Glenelg at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Atholton is coming into the matchup with six straight losses on the road, meaning Glenelg will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory.
