Softball Recap: Warren County Tech Knights vs. South Hunterdon Eagles
Warren County Tech extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-8. They lost 13-3 to the South Hunterdon Eagles. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2023.
As for South Hunterdon, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. Considering they have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
For South Hunterdon's part, Elsie Scheetz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Scheetz has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Aidan Steffanelli looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits.
Back at the plate, South Hunterdon got a big performance out of Erin O'Rourke, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Anika Balog, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Warren County Tech will venture away from home to challenge Hopatcong at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Hunterdon, they will take on Warren Hills Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
