Baseball Recap: Saguaro Triumphs

After losing to Sunrise Mountain the last time they met, Saguaro decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Saguaro Sabercats walked away with a 5-1 win over the Sunrise Mountain Mustangs on Wednesday.

Dario LoBianco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kasen Williams was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Zander Bratspis also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Saguaro now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Sunrise Mountain, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Saguaro will take on ALA - Queen Creek at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. ALA - Queen Creek will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something Saguaro surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sunrise Mountain, they will square off against Willow Canyon at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Willow Canyon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Sunrise Mountain's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
