Volleyball Recap: Coastal Academy Takes a Loss

Coastal Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 3-0 to the El Camino Wildcats. If the Stingrays were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

The final score came out to 25-21, 25-10, 25-15.

Despite the loss, Coastal Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alyssa Alcantara had 12 digs and one assist.

Makayla Boone was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had seven digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted since back in August of 2024.

Coastal Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for El Camino, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coastal Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 loss against Oceanside on the 22nd. After both having extra time off, El Camino and Classical Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
