Baseball Game Preview: Eastlake Titans vs. Coronado Islanders

The Eastlake Titans will face off against the Coronado Islanders at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Eastlake's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Del Norte 7-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Titans.

Eastlake got a great performance from Beau Covell as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 5.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Joel Vargas was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. JP Conero was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Eastlake hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in five consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Coronado posted their closest victory since April 10, 2024 on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past La Jolla Country Day 4-3.

Coronado's record now sits at 4-1. As for Eastlake, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Eastlake beat Coronado 7-4 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Does Eastlake have another victory up their sleeve, or will Coronado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
